First Things First: Mastering Your Kingsbury Dark Roast Cold Brew

The foundation of a great Pumpkin Roll Cold Brew is, naturally, great cold brew. Our Kingsbury Dark Roast is an ideal choice for cold brew due to its robust flavor profile that mellows beautifully with the cold extraction process, delivering a smooth, chocolatey base without bitterness.

What you'll need:

    • Penn's Woods Kingsbury Dark Roast Coffee: Coarsely ground (this is key for cold brew!)
    • Filtered Water
    • A Large Container or Cold Brew Maker: A mason jar, pitcher, or dedicated cold brew system works well.
    • Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth (for filtering)

Instructions:

  1. Measure Your Ratio: A common and effective cold brew ratio is 1:8—one part coffee to eight parts water by weight. For example, if you use 4 ounces (about 1 cup) of coarsely ground Kingsbury Dark Roast, you'll need 32 ounces (about 4 cups) of filtered water.
  2. Combine Coffee and Water: Pour your coarsely ground Kingsbury Dark Roast into your container. Slowly add the filtered water, making sure all the grounds are thoroughly saturated. Give it a gentle stir to ensure even saturation.
  3. Steep: Cover your container and let it steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12–24 hours. For Kingsbury Dark Roast, we recommend starting at 18 hours and adjusting to your taste for future batches. Longer steeping times will result in a stronger concentrate.
  4. Strain the Concentrate: Once steeped, place a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth (or a clean coffee filter) over another clean pitcher or jar. Slowly pour the coffee mixture through the strainer. Let it drip naturally; avoid pressing the grounds, as this can force sediment through and make your cold brew cloudy or bitter.
  5. Store: You now have Kingsbury Dark Roast cold brew concentrate! Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1–2 weeks. When you're ready to enjoy, dilute your concentrate with water or milk to your preferred strength (a 1:1 ratio is a good starting point).

The Ultimate Pumpkin Roll Cold Brew Recipe

Now that you have your homemade Kingsbury Dark Roast cold brew, let's turn it into the autumnal masterpiece that had everyone buzzing at the Pumpkin Fest!

Yields: 1 serving Prep time: 5 minutes (after cold brew is made)

Ingredients:

  • 6–8 oz (approx. 3/4 to 1 cup) Penn's Woods Kingsbury Dark Roast Cold Brew Concentrate (or diluted to your preference)
  • Ice
  • 2 pumps (approx. 1 tbsp) Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup
  • 2 pumps (approx. 1 tbsp) Vanilla Coffee Syrup

For the Cream Cheese Cold cream:

  • 2 tbsp half & half
  • 2 tbsp 2% milk
  • 1 tbsp cream cheese (softened, full-fat for best results)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla bean paste (optional, but highly recommended for depth)

Equipment:

  • Frother (handheld electric frother works best for cold foam). If you don't have a frother, you could blend or mix the ingredients.
  • Tall glass

Instructions:

  • Prepare Your Cold Cream: In a small bowl or frothing pitcher, combine the half & half, 2% milk, softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and vanilla bean paste.
  • Froth the Foam: Use your handheld frother to mix and froth the ingredients until thick, creamy, and smooth. It should be able to hold its shape well—like a cloud! This might take a minute or two. Set aside.
  • Build Your Drink: Fill your tall glass generously with ice.
  • Add Syrups: Pour in the pumpkin spice syrup and vanilla syrup over the ice.
  • Add Cold Brew: Pour your Kingsbury Dark Roast cold brew over the ice and syrups. Stir gently to combine the syrups with the coffee.
  • Top with Foam: Carefully spoon or pour the rich cream cheese cold foam over the top of your cold brew.
  • Garnish (Optional): Dust with a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.
  • Enjoy!

This Pumpkin Roll Cold Brew is an experience! The smooth, rich base of Kingsbury Dark Roast cold brew, combined with the sweet and spicy syrups and that luscious cream cheese cold foam, creates a perfectly balanced and incredibly satisfying beverage. We're happy to share the secret to our Bradford Pumpkin Fest success with you! Enjoy brewing, sipping, and celebrating the season with Penn's Woods Coffee!
